GREAT ATRICLE!!

Awhile back Tom and I completed some on-line training for adoptive parents. Our home study and our dossier require us to take this training. It was pretty helpful, and very complete:) But the one thing I constantly remember from the training is an article that was part of the required reading. It was an overview of the dos and don'ts with your adopted child. I think it was so helpful for me, and I also forwarded it to our close family who will be around us a lot when we bring him home. I thought I would share it here. Just click below for the website:

http://www.adoptvietnam.org/parenting/cross-cultural.htm

It is a website that promotes adoption from Vietnam, but s very applicable to any family who is touched by adoption! Enjoy:)

Garage Sale!!

Hi all!
Just wanted to also add to our blog that we are having a garage sale to benefit our adoption journey. It will be July 23-24. We will take any items off your hands if you need to clean out closets, or the garage. Just let me know if you need details!

Step by Step

First blog post! I never thought I would start a blog, but here I am sitting on the couch sipping my diet coke BLOGGING! I am not the writer of the family, in fact that would be my husband, but I am inspired to share our journey with others. We are currently adopting a baby boy from Ethiopia. We are in the end stages of the paper work..."Paper Pregnancy" and will hopefully be sending our 'Dossier' to Ethiopia in the next few months. We just finished our I600 form, and are waiting. Seems to be a common word in the adoption process...waiting! But that is ok! We are willing to do what it takes to get our little guy home! I will keep Mae (our almost two year old daughter) and myself busy while all the steps are slowly taken. This is the first of many posts I am sure. It feels strange to be "out there" in cyberspace. I hope this blog can bring encouragement to some, and clarity to others who might not quite understand why we want to adopt. We can't wait to share more news with you in the months to come, but for now we wait!
